Unity have ordered a Flavia Creation Tea / Coffee / Hot Chocolate vending machine for the reception area.

Head coaches from TKD England with Bradley Abeyta & Stewart Armotrading of Future Taekwondo

Unity MAA Resident Personal Trainer & Future Taekwondo black belt Bradley Abeyta just finished a 4 hour training camp with TKD England Limited, the future of taekwondo, here at Unity Martial Arts Academy in Slough.

“I am privileged and honoured to have been asked to help with nutritional guidance and plyometrics coaching on a long term basis” said Brad.

A huge thank you to all of the students and coaches that travelled to Unity in the snow.

We hope you all enjoyed the warm up and found the nutritional information helpful.

Guided Chaos Self Defence – Three Hour Session

ground fighting photoEvery month or so a 3 hour Guided Chaos training session is scheduled at the Unity gym. The normal sessions on Wednesdays and Saturdays are an hour long so it’s a nice opportunity to focus on some of the basic principles and drills in an in-depth fashion.

Guided Chaos self defence training is built around principles rather than formal drills. The idea is that in a chaotic situation and under stress, rigid, formalised self defence patterns tend to be less use they might appear to be in the comfort of the dojo. One of the main exercises we use to practice is called Contact Flow. It involves working with your partner in a totally non-cooperative way and subliminally trains your brain and body to move around another person (or persons) actions.

In this way, after some time working with this and other exercises, the idea is that the principles of movement become automatic in a given situation. You don’t have to consciously think about dropping immediately into a stable stance, evading and avoiding, striking and disabling your opponent – it just happens.

It was good to see a lot of the regulars at the session, thanks to everyone who made it through the snow. The dates for the next scheduled 3 hour lesson will be posted soon on the Guided Chaos page.
